When you call a customer from an unknown number, they don’t pick up. They screen it, let it go to voicemail, and you lose the window to confirm a job, collect payment, or discuss a upsell. Business Caller ID solves that by showing your business name and logo on the incoming call screen — so customers know exactly who is calling before they decide to answer.

Why Business Caller ID Matters

Customers receive dozens of spam calls every day. Without caller ID, your business number looks identical to every robocall they’ve been trained to ignore. Studies consistently show that calls from recognized numbers are answered at two to three times the rate of unrecognized numbers.

For a lawn care business, this translates directly to revenue. A customer who picks up when you call to confirm their spring cleanup appointment is far more likely to approve add-ons, reschedule proactively if weather changes, or pay their overdue invoice on the spot. Calls that go to voicemail introduce delay and friction at every stage of the customer relationship.

Apple Business Connect

Apple Business Connect is a free service from Apple that lets verified businesses control how their name, logo, and category appear across Apple’s platforms — including Maps, Mail, and most importantly, the Phone app’s incoming call screen.

When your business is verified through Apple Business Connect, every iPhone user who receives a call from your number will see your business name and logo instead of just the digits. This works automatically for all iPhone users without them needing to save your number in their contacts.

Apple Business Connect is entirely separate from advertising. There is no cost to register, no ongoing subscription, and Apple does not charge you per call. It is a verification and display service, not a paid placement.

Note: Apple Business Connect affects caller ID on iPhones only. Android users will continue to see your phone number unless they have your contact saved or are using a third-party caller ID app like Google Phone. In the United States, the majority of smartphones are iPhones, so Business Connect reaches the largest portion of your customer base.

Setup Steps

LawnBook guides you through the Apple Business Connect registration process step by step. From the Settings tab, tap Business Caller ID to begin. The in-app flow walks you through each stage of registration and explains what Apple requires at each step.

Here is what the full registration process looks like:

  1. Claim your business — Go to businessconnect.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Search for your business by name and address. If Apple Maps already has a listing for your business, you’ll claim it. If not, you’ll create a new listing
  2. Verify ownership — Apple requires proof that you own or manage the business. Verification methods include receiving a phone call at the business number, receiving a text message, or submitting documentation. The method available to you depends on your business type and location
  3. Upload your logo — Once verified, upload your business logo. Apple requires a square image, at least 800×800 pixels, with no transparent background. Use your primary logo on a solid color or white background
  4. Set your display name — Enter the business name exactly as you want it to appear on the caller ID screen. This should match the name your customers know you by — the name on your invoices, your yard signs, and your website
  5. Submit for review — Apple reviews your submission before activating it. This review typically takes one to two weeks. You will receive an email when your caller ID display is live

Tip: If you already have an Apple Maps listing for your business, the claim process is faster. Check whether your business appears on Apple Maps before starting registration — if it does, you’re halfway there.

What Customers See

Once Apple approves your Business Connect registration, here is what happens when you call a customer who has an iPhone:

The incoming call screen displays your business name in large text at the top, your logo as a circular image in the center of the screen, and your phone number below your business name. The standard green and red answer/decline buttons appear at the bottom. The experience is identical to calling someone who already has your contact saved — except Business Connect makes this work for every iPhone user automatically, even customers who have never saved your number.
