Every lawn care business is different. A solo operator needs a quick view of today's jobs and outstanding invoices. A crew-based business wants labor hours and route efficiency front and center. LawnBook™'s dashboard puts you in control — 35+ widgets, configurable quick links, and floating action buttons let you build a home screen that matches how you actually run your day.
Dashboard Overview
The LawnBook dashboard is the first screen you see when you open the app. Out of the box, it surfaces the most commonly useful information: today's revenue, upcoming jobs, the current weather at your location, and any items flagged as requiring your attention.
The default layout is designed for new users who haven't customized anything yet. It gives you a working home screen from day one, but it's a starting point — not a finished product. As you get comfortable with LawnBook, customizing your dashboard to show exactly what you care about is one of the highest-value things you can do to speed up your daily workflow.
- Revenue snapshot — Today's invoiced amount, collected payments, and net for the day
- Upcoming jobs — The next 3 scheduled jobs with client name, address, and start time
- Weather card — Current conditions and the next 3 days at your primary service area
- Priority actions — Overdue invoices, unread messages, pending bookings, and low-supply alerts
- Quick stats — Jobs completed this week, this month, and year-to-date at a glance
Tip: Spend 5 minutes customizing your dashboard after your first week of using LawnBook. By then you'll know which numbers you actually look at and which ones you ignore — that's the perfect time to build your ideal layout.
Customizing Widgets
To customize your dashboard, tap Settings > Customize Dashboard. You'll see the full library of available widgets organized by category. Each widget has a toggle to show or hide it on your dashboard and a drag handle to reorder it.
The customize screen shows a live preview of your dashboard as you make changes. Widgets you enable appear in the order they're listed. Drag any widget up or down in the list to change where it appears on your home screen.
Customization is saved automatically. There's no save button — changes take effect immediately and persist across app launches and device restores. If you ever want to start fresh, tap Reset to Default at the bottom of the customize screen to restore the original layout.
- Toggle on/off — Show or hide any widget with a single tap
- Drag to reorder — Long-press the drag handle and move a widget to any position
- Live preview — See exactly how your dashboard will look as you make changes
- Reset to default — Restore the original layout if you want to start over
- Per-device settings — Dashboard layout is saved per device, not synced across devices
Available Widgets
LawnBook includes 35+ widgets organized into five categories. Every widget can be enabled or disabled independently, and all can be reordered freely.
Overview widgets give you top-line financial and operational numbers at a glance:
- Revenue today — Total invoiced and collected for today
- Expenses today — Logged expenses for today, categorized
- Net profit today — Revenue minus expenses for the current day
- Year-to-date revenue — Running total from January 1 to today
- YTD net profit — Year-to-date revenue minus year-to-date expenses
Financial widgets keep billing and tax health visible:
- Overdue invoices — Count and total dollar amount of past-due invoices
- Outstanding balance — Total amount owed across all unpaid invoices
- Tax estimate — Estimated quarterly tax liability based on current net profit
- Top clients by revenue — Your five highest-paying clients this month or quarter
- Recent payments — Last 5 payments received with client name and amount
Operations widgets track your day-to-day field work:
- Upcoming jobs — Next jobs on the schedule with time, client, and address
- Weekly schedule — Full week view in a compact calendar format
- Jobs completed this week — Count of completed jobs and total revenue this week
- Supply alerts — Items below reorder threshold that need restocking
- Mileage today — Miles logged for the current day using automatic tracking
AI widgets surface insights generated from your business data:
- Business digest — A weekly AI-written summary of your performance, trends, and suggested focus areas
- Quick insights — One-line observations like "Your Tuesday revenue is 40% higher than other days" or "3 clients haven't booked in 60 days"
Crew widgets show team activity at a glance (Premium):
- Time clock status — Which crew members are currently clocked in and where
- Hours today — Total crew hours logged today across all team members
- Active crew — List of crew members currently on a job with their location
Tip: If you're a solo operator, hide the Crew widgets entirely — they're most useful once you have at least one employee or subcontractor. Removing them declutters your dashboard significantly.
Quick Links Bar
The Quick Links bar is a row of shortcut icons at the top of your dashboard, just below the date and weather summary. It gives you one-tap access to your most-used screens without navigating through the tab bar or menus.
You can add up to 8 quick links. To configure them, go to Settings > Customize Dashboard > Quick Links. Choose from any screen in the app — popular choices include:
- New Job — Jump directly to the add job form
- Invoices — Open the invoice list filtered to unpaid
- Time Reports — View the current week's crew time report
- Expenses — Open the expense log to add a new receipt
- Supplies — Check inventory levels and log usage
- Clients — Search your client list
- Route Planner — Open today's optimized route
- Messages — Jump to your client message inbox
Each quick link shows a small icon and a label. You can rename the labels to match your own vocabulary — if you call estimates "quotes," rename the shortcut to match. Long-press any quick link icon to reorder or remove it.
Floating Action Buttons
Floating action buttons (FABs) are the circular buttons that overlay the bottom corner of your screen, always visible no matter what screen you're on. They're designed for actions you perform multiple times per day that need to be reachable in two taps or fewer.
You can configure up to 4 floating action buttons. Tap the main FAB (the green circle in the bottom-right corner) to expand it into your configured actions. To customize which actions appear, go to Settings > Customize Dashboard > Floating Buttons.
High-value floating button combinations for different business types:
- Solo operator — Add Job, Add Expense, Start Timer, Quick Lead
- Crew-based — Add Job, Time Report, Add Expense, Message Client
- Sales-focused — New Estimate, Quick Lead, New Client, Send Invoice
- Finance-focused — Add Expense, Scan Receipt, Send Invoice, View Reports
The FAB appears on all screens, not just the dashboard. This is especially useful when you're viewing a client record and need to quickly add an expense or schedule a new job — you don't have to navigate away to do it.
Daily Briefing
The Daily Briefing is an AI-generated morning summary that appears as the first card on your dashboard each day when you open LawnBook between 5:00 AM and 10:00 AM. It synthesizes information from across your account into a short, scannable digest designed to orient your day in 30 seconds.
A typical Daily Briefing includes:
- Jobs today — How many jobs are scheduled, starting times, and any that are unassigned or lack an address
- Revenue expected — Total invoice value for today's jobs based on your pricing
- Weather alert — Any conditions that might affect outdoor work, including rain probability and wind speed
- Follow-ups due — Estimates that haven't been accepted, leads that need a call, clients with overdue balances
- Crew check — If any crew members don't have jobs assigned for the day, a heads-up appears so you can fill their schedule
- Supplies flag — If any supply items are below reorder threshold, they appear in the briefing before you head out
The Daily Briefing is generated fresh each morning using your live data. It does not require any setup — it's on by default and becomes more useful over time as your account accumulates more history. If you prefer not to see it, toggle it off in Settings > Customize Dashboard > Daily Briefing.
